There was a minor upset when their close opponent MontenegrinDerby (2-9) was defeated on the road by first ranked Romanian Cluj Napoca (8-3) 96-85 on Friday. Cluj Napoca made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Cluj Napoca outrebounded Derby 43-21 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Panamanian guard Iverson Molinar (193-1999, college: MSU) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 assists and American point guard Daron Russell (180-1998, college: Maryland) who added 23 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Aleksa Ilic (204-1996) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Darius Johnson (185-2002, college: UCF, agency: Inception Sports) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Five Cluj Napoca and four Derby players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cluj Napoca have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Romanian champion maintains first position with 8-3 record which they share with defeated Derby . Derby lost sixth consecutive game. They still keep top place with nine games lost. They share the position with Krka.
